“I thought I was safe.”

Every story has a moment when everything changes. Marco Sanciu remembers exactly when everything took a different turn.

“It was around four o’clock in the afternoon when the water began rising rapidly outside the practice. Within a short time it had reached more than one metre in height, and what had seemed like a manageable situation suddenly turned into an emergency.”

In the video, he also describes the struggle to open the entrance door as the pressure of the water increased, and his attempt to help his dental assistant reach safety.

These memories are told simply, without embellishment or interpretation, yet they clearly convey how quickly the flood overwhelmed the practice.

When the water finally receded, the practice was left covered in mud, debris, and everything the flood had carried with it.

The practice was no longer usable, and operations were suspended for approximately seven months. During that entire period, the cabinets remained inside the premises, exposed to humidity and the aftermath of the flooding.

Marco Sanciu dismantled all the cabinets, took them outside, and washed them using nothing more than a standard garden hose. No components were replaced, and no restoration work was required.

Recalling those days, he says:
“After seven months, with the cabinets having remained the entire time in an environment with 100% humidity, once they were cleaned they were still in perfect condition, without a single spot of rust.”

It is one of the key moments of his testimony because it simply describes what he found when the practice finally reopened.

Among the many memories shared during the interview, one stands out for how naturally it emerged.

Speaking about what remained after the flood, Marco says:

“The only things that survived were the Dental Art cabinets and the coffee machine.”

Once the clean-up and restoration work had been completed, Studio Sanciu was finally able to reopen and resume its activity.
